What I'm Thankful For #8

Today I'm thankful for our Nation's Veterans.
Although I'm not a fan of war (and the politics behind it),
I am thankful for all the men and women who have served (and continue to serve)
our country to insure that our freedom is protected.

I am appreciative of all the Vets
who have sacrificed and dedicated their lives to serve the United States.
Days like today remind me that I am fortunate to be living in the
greatest country in the world.
I AM TRULY BLESSED!

What I'm Thankful For #7

Today I'm thankful for my monthly Girls Dinner.
About once a month I get together with a group of my friends for a
Girls ONLY Dinner.
It gives all of us a chance to catch up and share stories over a delicious meal.
We always set a theme for the night, and everyone brings something to contribute to the feast.
And when I say feast, I really mean FEAST.
With this group of friends, we don't do anything half-ass.

Tonight's theme is Mexican and not only is it going to be a feast,
it will also be a FIESTA!!!
Tacos, Mexican Casserole, Spanish Rice, Beans, and
MARGARITAS!!!
And for once we can really enjoy the night
since we all have the day off tomorrow for Veteran's Day.
I AM TRULY BLESSED!

What I'm Thankful For #6

Today I'm thankful for my amazing staff at work.
One of my many duties in my new job is
making sure that my site is in compliance with its grant requirements.
Meticulous data is collected several times a day,
and all of the gathered info has to be inputted into an on-line tracking system.
I have been trying to play catch-up with all my paperwork for weeks,
but my stack just got bigger and bigger.

Tomorrow is the deadline to make sure my system is up to date
(although my boss asked that it get done by 6pm today).
I was feeling a bit stressed and overwhelmed
thinking about how much work I had to do.

And this is where my AMAZING staff came to my rescue.
Everyone was so fabulous today
and allowed me to get some solid hours of undisturbed work in.
I'm so fortunate to have a great group of Teachers at my school who are willing to spend their time afterschool to insure that our students succeed.
I'm also thankful for my "support staff" that continue to impress me everyday.
I have such an unique group of staff
(a retired high school teacher, a 23 year-old college student
 who coaches football,
and sweet and caring high school student worker).
They all bring something different to the job,
and I don't know what I would do without them!!!

What I'm Thankful For #5

Today I'm thankful for big comfy sweaters.
After an unsually warm stretch of weather, it has finally gotten chilly.
Today was the first day that I woke up to find a bite to the morning air
and a light dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains.
It was the perfect sweater-weather kind of day!

The sweater I wore today
I love wearing oversized sweaters like this on chilly days.
It's almost as if you're wearing a dressy blanket
that continues to give you hugs as your day goes on.
As much as I prefer warmer weather,
I have to admit that I love when Jack Frost makes his first visit.
Bring on the offical start of Sweater Season!
I AM TRULY BLESSED!

What I'm Thankful For #4

Today I'm thankful for the rain.
I love when it rains in Reno.
Family "legend" has it that when I was about four I told my Grandma Pearl,
"It rarely rains in Reno."
(imagine me saying that in a cute child's voice were the r's sound more like w's)

The rain hitting the sagebrush is one of my favorite smells.
I love how the sound of the rain and the smell of the sagebrush seems to cleanse and refresh the air in the Truckee Meadows.
Hearing the pitter-pat of the rain hitting the roof of my house makes me smile and long for my youth where I used to jump into puddles
and watch the water splash around me.

What I'm Thankful For #3

Today I'm thankful for my bed.
There is nothing like being home, in your own bed.
I love my queen sized bed,
with its silky blue sheets and blue/brown patterned comforter.
With squishy (but firm) pillows that cradle my tired head.
I AM TRULY BLESSED!

What I'm Thankful For #2

Today I'm thankful for my kitty cat Bella.
She loves me unconditionally and knows how to cheer me up after a rough day.
She always greets me at the door when I get home
and showers me in kitty kisses and nuzzles.
She is my "baby" and I love her so.

I AM TRULY BLESSED!

One of my best friends posted a great suggestion on her Facebook yesterday.  For the rest of the month she is going to post something she's thankful for.  Something different each day.

I really liked this idea....ALOT! I think we get so caught up in our daily lives and forget to take a moment and reflect on what's important.  I know this happens to me all the time! By recognizing something you're thankful for each day it lets us appreciate the little (or not so little) things and people who are important and grace our lives.

So my dearest friend, I hope you don't mind that I'm borrowing your idea.

For the rest of the month (or at least until Thanksgiving) I too will post what I am thankful for.  Something different each day.

What I'm Thankful For #1

Today I'm thankful for my friends.
I am very blessed to have some fabulous friends in my life right now.
Friends who are there for me through good times and bad.
Friends who will be honest with me and will "tell it like it is"
even if it's hard for me to hear.
Friends who can make me laugh as well as make me cry.
Friends who are more like members of my family, and who I consider my sisters.
Love you wonderful, amazing, ladies!!!

I AM TRULY BLESSED!

I Want It THAT Way...

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!

My childhood dream and my teenage dream....
coliding into one JAM-PACKED,
hormone driven, high pitched screaming, concert tour.

The New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys
are hitting the road together!!!

Ryan Seacrest confirmed on his radio show yesterday that the two boy-bands will be kicking off their concert tour in Summer 2011
and will span across the United States.

Yes, that's right.  Donnie, Joey, Jordan, Jonathan, Danny, Brian, AJ, Howie, and Nick (sorry Kevin fans, he left BSB awhile ago)
will be making women in their mid 20s-40s swoon across the nation!

The "boys" will be announcing on Monday their tour dates and cities
and I HOPE they're coming to Reno.
If not, who's interested in a road trip?
How can you pass on an opportunity to hear "Step by Step" and
"I Want it that Way" in one mind-blowing concert?
